365: "We are like, SO NICE to old people"
I did my sexual activity timeline in my human sexuality class today. This time instead of just having a "start" date, I also added an "end" date. So they had to come up with a list of "typical" sexual behaviors one would experience over a lifetime, tell me when these behaviors started (on average) and when they thought they ended (on average). Very enlightening to say the least. Overall they thought they were "like, SO nice to old people" by thinking "old people" had sex for "so long."
Here's the list so you don't have to squint:
Closed Mouth Kissing - Starts at age 5, Ends at Death
Masturbation for Boys - Starts at age 11.5 years of age (split between 11 & 12), Ends at Death
“Dating” - Starts at age 13, Ends at 16.5 years of age
Open Mouth Kissing - Starts at age 13, Ends at Death
Dry Humping - Starts at age 14, Ends at 50 years of age
Under Clothes Groping - Starts at age 14, Ends at 50 years of age
Masturbation for Girls - Starts at age 15, Ends at 62.5 years of age (split between 60 & 65)
Spooning - Starts at age 14.5, Ends at Death
Masturbating Each Other - Starts at age 14.5, Ends at Death
Oral Sex - Starts at age 15, Ends at 65 years of age
Intercourse - Starts at age 16, Ends at 75 years of age
Serious Dating – Starts at age 16.5, Ends at 55 years of age
Sex on Drugs - Starts at age 17, Ends at 30 years of age (intense discussion about “level” of drug – we just went with “average drug use”)
Men Receiving Anal Sex - Starts at age 17, Ends at Death (intense discussion about Viagra here)
Casual Sex - Starts at age 17.5, Ends at 40 years of age - also starts at 70 years of age and ends at Death (for those who are divorced or widowed)
Love - Starts at age 18, Ends at Death (or “never”)
Kinky Sex (anything from sex toys to S&M) - Starts at age 18.5, Ends at 65 years of age
Women Receiving Anal Sex - Starts at age 19, Ends at 30 years of age
Rim Jobs - Starts at age 20, Ends at 65 years of age
Group Sex - Starts at age 20 (although some said 3-somes started earlier – orgies later), Ends at 35 years of age
Have Baby - Starts at age 22.5, Ends at 42 years of age (some said 40, some said 45)
Marriage - Starts at age 25, Ends at Death
Prostitution / Paying for Sex - Starts at age 30 (this was a VERY big average – some said 18, some said 50+), Ends at 65 years of age
Divorce - Starts at age 40, Ends at Death

365: Last Night in Paradise
After about eleventy million phone calls, a change in medications for a third time, and a trip to the vet we were finally able to secure new pain medication for Duke. There are going to be 4 sad doggies tomorrow when all the floor pallets come up. Poor spoiled babies.

365: Par-Tay
Last night's party was a big success! Besides Daisy's upset stomach the only other minor catastrophe was that we lost the lis to the tequila bottle. Luckily we had an old agave bottle just hanging out. Hmm, convenient was to spice up our coffee or tea?!?!

365: Wii are having so much fun!!!
Ange's birthday party = total success. We had 22 people in total--an all-time high for Camp Awesome! My favorite part, besides seeing my babe SO happy, was our Michael Jackson: The Experience 30 minutes of hysteria. Of course I had to dance my booty off! So much funsies!

365: Working It
My big teaching goal this semester was to amp up my community health class. At the end of last semester my students told me my lectures were boring and they never read the book because they felt I told them all they needed to know. Not this semester. Lots of activities, lots more moving around and doing things and less explaining what's in the book. Today they had to go out and guerrilla interview people. Which left me with a big, empty classroom. Ahhh, the quiet. For 30 minutes anyway.

365: Yeah, this is my life...
Late February. 73 degrees. Water Ski Team has their boat in the middle of campus. Hard to believe this is really my life.

365: Little Poster Girl
Ange made her first academic poster this week! She figured it all out by herself and did a great job! Proud of my budding little geographer! Love you boogie bear!

365: Deadly Little Buggers
This is a little seed pod thingie that falls off some trees around campus. Looks kind of like a puffer fish and I'm here to let you know, just as deadly. It was chilly (by CA standards mind you) and rainy today so as I quickly walked across campus I was more concerned about staying warm and dry than about little time bombs waiting to happen. Well the heel of my shoe stepped down on one of these miniature boobytraps and I nearly flew off the sidewalk. Thankfully my gracefulness was working today and I didn't fall down. After a quick adjustment and a furious look around to see if anyone noticed (nope!) I continued on my way. Whew. Disaster avoided.

365: Pancake Mountain
Before all the chaos of dog sickness my love made me pancakes for breakfast. But not only did she make them for today, but for tomorrow through probably the whole week! Our friend Laurie told us that her family makes big batches of them on the weekend and then throws them in the fridge for quick reheating later in the week. Genius! And now we have followed suit. I do love the crap out of some pancakes!

365: Only in Chico
I love this sign at the Farmers Market. I'm actually surprised it doesn't have more animals listed. There is a guy who walks around town with a bird on his shoulder. We saw him at Walmart once. And a few different people with different reptiles. That's just how we roll around here.

365: Playing Doctor
And not even the fun, sexy kind. The "Does Lindsay has pneumonia" kind of Doctor. Prognosis: no pneumonia. But it does sound funny when you listen to someone's raspy throat with a stethoscope.

365: Rufus!
This is our little neighbor buddy Rufus. He's just the cutest, sweetest, timid little guy ever. It took about a month of time and lots of treats to make him our friend. But now that he knows our cars = treats, he's our best friend. We met him a long time before we met his dad...which leads me to the fact that his name is not actually Rufus. His name is Logan. But when we met him we didn't know that so we needed to give him a name instead of just calling him neighbor dog. After a few months we met his dad. We told his dad that we named him Rufus and he thought that was hilarious. And now when we talk to him, he also refers to Logan as Rufus. Rufus is such a better name for him. Logan is only good for a human or a pet wolverine.

365: When You Least Expect It...
...a student pleasantly surprises you.
Last semester one of my students asked for recommendation letter for a scholarship at the last minute due to another professor dropping the ball. She was a great student so I said sure. I wrote a nice letter for her and sent her a copy after I submitted it so she'd have a heads up. I didn't hear anything back from her but I figured it was the end of the semester and she just got overwhelmed with school and work stuff. I didn't really think much about it.
Today I was sitting in my office working on some stuff and my student appeared in my doorway holding a card. She apologized for not coming by sooner and said she really appreciated my last minute effort on her behalf. We had a nice chat and then she was off to class.
I have the best students :)

365: Happy Valentine's Day
We don't really celebrate holidays all that much in our family of 2 + 4 dogs. Ange trimmed some branches that were jutting into the driveway and getting on my nerves and I stopped at the grocery store and picked up some goodies for us. That's as fancy as we get. But hey! Nothing says Happy Valentine's Day like half a powered donut smile! xoxo from Camp Awesome!

365: Community Assets
I love when my students go all out on their projects--no matter how "small" or how few points it's worth. Good stuff.

365: Mask Shopping
While we were in Chico today we decided to do a little mask shopping for MasQueerade. This was my vote for Ange. She humored me for a picture but eventually vetoed it in favor of another idea. Sad. I would have loved to make cat jokes all night!

365: My Sweet Pea
I sure do love this woman. All we've done all day is cuddle and snuggle in our jammies. It's been the perfect day. I could watch paint dry with her and it would be perfect. She's the best.

365: Creepy Birds
There was a very large group of birds sitting on top of the Health Center today as we walked to our building. They were creepy. I don't particularly care for birds anyway and given it was an overcast day they were looking at me all Poe-like. Ick.

365: Oh Yes She Did!
Ange apparently thought this some e-card was SO me that she blew it up and laminated it. It's going to hang proudly above my desk. Sadly, even the not so subtle sign will probably not stop people from missing the context clues of my eyeballs rolling back in my head and shutting up.

365: African Explosion
Continuing with my spoilage this week Ange made me some Nigerian food this week. When we were home for Christmas Mercy sent us home with some jars of stew and beans. Ange whipped up some yummy beans & stew over rice. It was so good! But it also leaked out all over my lunch bag AND on my awesome work satchel my mom made me :( It's soaking over night but I'm not very hopeful.

365: Bright Spot!
Since most of my day was crap, I decided I'd try and focus on something positive that happened today! I finally got my cameras for my LGBT youth visual research project! YAY! I can't wait to get the cameras in their hands so they can start taking pictures! I think this is going to be the most fun research project I've ever worked on!

365: Outbreak--Flu or Oaks?
I'm feeling like shit on a shoe. I can't tell if it's the outbreak of poison oak or if I'm coming down with a cold or flu. The past few times I've had an oak outbreak I've felt like doodoo for the first 24-36 hours while my skins and immune system kick into overdrive. I hope that's it but just in case I'm loading up on zinc and vitamin C. We'll see how I feel in the morning.

365: Pockets!
My favorite thing about my new party dress is the pockets! This means I can carry my chapstick around with me and not have to ask my babe for it for the millionth time and make her mad at me!
My face looks goofy in this picture but Ange and I have different priorities about about the importance of photo shoots AKA she doesn't understand that big girls need to take about a billion pictures until every thing is just perfect.

365: Well Tickle My Pickle
We went shopping today around Chico. First the farmers market, then Trader Joe's and finally one of the natural foods stores in town. Ange has made a new pledge to only eat locally raised, humanely treated meat. So the last place on the list has a butcher where you can get said meat. I, on the other hand, got a giant deli pickle! Yummo! I love giant pickles -- when we were little our parents used to get us a ginormous jar of the them at Sam's Club that were called "Moby Dills." Always cracked me up. The packaging they wrapped my pickle in today also cracked me up. It was quite delicious!

365: The 11th Plague
We are being inundated with moths right now. It's been happening for the past week or so -- I think it's associated with the rains. At night you can see them every-freaking-where. When we take the dogs in they swarm into the house and drive the dogs nutty. I can't wait til we're done with this phase of the season.

365: Weirdo
We have 6 water bowls in this house. And yet? None of them are apparently as delicious as licking water droplets out of the shower.

365: Two Blankets
I've mentioned before but we're a two blanket household. Someone (who isn't me) likes to burrito roll themselves in the blanket in the middle of the night and leave me exposed to the elements. So the two blanket system works best for us. This morning we each made our side of the bed but were too lazy to complete the whole job. Meh, whatevs.
