365: More Free Wood!
Someone in our canyon (or something--the deets are sketchy) got a grant to hire The Fire Service to come create defensible space on our road for fire prevention. So in case of a canyon fire, in theory, our road and the additional defensible space surrounding it will help prevent the fire from burning up the entire canyon. They've been out every day for the past 2 weeks clearing brush, cutting tree limbs (and sometime whole trees), and raking stuff around. At the end of each day they stack logs on the side of the road. I don't know if we're supposed to take them but dang, they just sat there for days looking so ready to be transported to our home to dry out and become firewood for our stove. So after days of temptation we grabbed a few. However most of what they cut we're in way too big chunks for our use. Apparently they've been monitoring our pilfering and he realized we only take small logs. Today I hit the mother lode because they stacked up so many small, appropriately sized logs I finally filled up the car! We'll have to see if any last til tomorrow or if our grubby neighbors get in on our gig too.

365: Wood Carrier/Stand
Now that we're wood stove users we needed to acquire some wood apparatus. In particular we needed something to carry and stack the wood inside so there isn't a trail of icky moss and wood fragments all over the place. I did my best Amazon.com shopping and found this little gem. It got good reviews (good bang for the buck) so I ordered it. It came today and I even put it together! Look at me! Being all butch and shit. It's not fancy but I think it's going to fit our needs well.

365: Setting the Mood
Ange woke up with a bad cold so we did a lot of laying around today. We pulled the blinds down, fired up the stove and got warm and toasty. Very conducive to a lazy, rainy day in the canyon.

365: Chest/Butts Roasting by an Open Fire
We have a wood stove in our house. We've been meaning to get some wood for the past few days so we can try it out. We finally remembered on the way home tonight to pick up a couple bundles at the gas station. Good thing too because there is a monster rain storm wailing away outside. If you need me I'll be toasting my buns right here.

Aries to a T
Astrology is fun. I don't take it too seriously, e.g. I don't make decisions based on my astrological calendar or consult some kind of astro-reader or whatever. But I think that there is a lot to be said about knowing the characteristics of different zodiac signs which often explains why people do things and who they are as humans. It's not 100% true and there are always bound to be people who don't fit, but often you can learn a lot about someone by investigating their sign (just don't be lame and try a "What's your sign?" pick up lame. That would make you born under the Ass Sign.)
I am an Aries. The first sign of the Zodiac. People who are Aries like to be first. Yep, true.
Aries are considered "masculine" in character and like to be leaders on tasks. I often think it's funny that my partner is the one with the "butch" exterior (and really, it's just her hair) and that makes me the "femme." Believe me, the only thing really femme about me is my appearance (dresses, make-up, etc.). When it comes to the dynamics of our relationship I am totally the butch one.
Aries are fire signs and thus tend to be adventurous and energetic, but tend to get burnt out. Totally me. If Ange wants me to do something I don't want to do, like cleaning, she is learning that it's best to get me early in the day. I am a morning person and I'm bursting with energy. But by the end of the day I'm dim and lethargic.
Aries are enthusiastic and confident. But we can also be selfish and impatient. If you have ever worked with me you know these things. I try and harness the good and minimize the not as great. I am passionate and will always speak up for the underdog. If you try and push me, you likely feel my shove back, especially if your callousness harms someone else.
Aries are quick-witted and sharp. If you've ever been subjected to my humor you know this. But you might have also felt the frustration I have when people are slow and not so bright. It goes hand in hand with our lack of patience.
Aries tend to live their lives in the extreme. Always pushing for more adventure and rushing into new things. It's a good thing I have a water sign partner to keep me cool :)
